I grew up in a small rural community, and country-western music was very popular. This was back in the days when many of the artists actually did sing with a twang. Listening to Hank Williams could be painful.

Remember “Harper Valley PTA”? I had friends who felt that song was the height of sophisticated insight. It’s easy to make fun of the genre; I often have, but as the years go by it becomes more and more popular. And really, is it any worse than rap or hip-hop?

Have you ever tried to play it? ELVIS is still hot in country, and I played with some real good pickers. Some of my songs I never get past the title because I make up some titles people-espescially other country pickeres-and I started learning the Ventures when that was HOT Rock’n Roll.
    BUT–WHO PUT THE p.u. IN YOUR P.U.S.S.Y.???
ALWAYS GETS REQUESTED BUT A ROOM FULL OF MUSICIANS CAN’T STOP LAUGHING LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO MAKE A CHORUS but what about ROCK?? and HOT TUNA
“YOU BROKE MY HEART, SO I BUSTED YOUR FACE!
p.s. The VENTURES first drummer who did the cut on WALK DON’T RUN, LEFT THE BAND AND BECAME A four star general In the Air Force.
Anyone who doesn’t know of the VENTURES before the Brittish Invasion wouldn’t know ELVIS was the KING OF ROCK not country. AND I believe the Ventures also wrote the theme song for RAWHIDE-ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN RAWHIDE! Before the pill, when doin it raw was without a rubber. Never caught THAT before did ya?? Except Eastwood was screwing cows on the longest cattle drive ever, so long it’s still ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN..

I don’t know who wrote it, but Frankie Lane sang it.

  4. Bill says:

Music by Dimitri Tiomkin, who wrote a great many movie scores back in the day.
