Sunrise or Sunset?

Once I delivered a ‘Great Presentations!’ seminar to about a dozen Kodak professional photographers.  I casually asked the question if they could tell the difference in a picture between a sunrise and sunset.  It was like hosting a discussion between Japanese whalers and PETA. After a long period of loud opinions, the general consensus was “No.  In most cases, you cannot.”

The photo above was taken from my terrace at sunrise.  I blurred it on purpose to highlight the sky. Right. (Actually it was too friggin’ cold to walk out there and set up my tripod.)

So much for The Top of the Plaza. I briefly considered renting one of the apts up there that had been converted from the old hotel most people no longer remember. Dowtown Rochester was pretty lively back in the day.

T and I were married at Top of the Plaza. It was a beautiful place for an affair – or a marriage.

After Buddy Rich went to Russia as a Music Ambassador for Jazz the Rochester cops busted him for a little pot at the top of the plaza when he was playing there. He was playing drums professionally at 2 or 3 yrs old. Jonny Carson had a Jazz Couple bring their 3 yr old son out to get down and boogie on the organ with special shoes to reach the pedals and having to reach way up to hit the keyes and he JAMMED!! Johnny asked Buddy what he thought of that? Buddy said, “AHHH ! I was beter’n him when I was his age!” Who else in the world couold put down a world class musical kid at three yrs old and get laughs.
