Some kids take a teddy bear to bed; I had a fox scarf. The jaws contained a clamp for chomping onto the tail and holding the thing on, and it had glass eyes. I have no idea where it came from, and I always assumed my mother trashed it after I had drooled on it a few too many times.

I believe what this girl has on her head is a possum, and I do believe it’s still alive. When I was a kid one of the neighbors found a baby possum in the road and raised it as a pet. It would sit quietly on his shoulder, but the sucker would growl if you tried to pet it. Christ, the authorities today would probably lock that guy up for some rinky dink violation or other.

    None of my business, mon.

And Frank had a black cat.

    Still does.

And that’s not a pink possum. It’s a tie died Yorkie that fell asleep under her back tire. It died with an erection and she says she’ll never part with it.
