Dr. Ex-Wife?!

My ex-wife T. just got her Doctorate in Psychology and I’m as proud of her as I can possibly be. I know how hard she worked for that honor while working full-time. And how long it took – 7 years! T. never got much handed to her in life except intelligence, personality, and looks. But, of course, even those great gifts can’t guarantee success.

Like everyone else, T. was also dealt some crummy cards (some would even say her first choice for a husband wasn’t exactly an Ace) but today she has a wonderful husband and her Mom is one of the absolute best people ever put on this Earth!

I wish everyone could have these feelings for their ex-lovers. I believe that if you’ve ever loved someone, part of you will love that person forever. Memory can often be a magnificent thing. If you fill yours with loving scenes and thoughts, everything else just seems to drift away. Or so it seems to me.

Congratulations, T! You deserve every meaningful moment you’ve earned.

At first I thought this was gonna be a humorous, self-deprecatory piece. Like, “My ex-wife got 30 credits toward her degree in psychology just for having lived with me,” or “My ex-wife decided to major in child psychology after having spent so much time with me.”

Or maybe it was gonna be an ex-bashing rant. Like, “Ever notice that people who are nuts seem to be the ones who major in psychology? Incidentally, my ex-wife went all the way and got her PhD!”

But this was sweet and selfless; kinda makes me want to cry. Just kinda, mind you.
