In 1964, I was 14-years old and collected presidential campaign buttons. Let’s face it, there’s nothing that attracts junior high babes more than a guy who collects buttons! OK, I was a dork.
Anyway, while other kids were content to grab a few buttons at the Democratic or Republican headquarters, I went all out. I saved my allowance and then bought buttons by the gross directly from the factories. I have no idea why. I stored the buttons in boxes for over half a century.
On the internet, these buttons now go for $3-to-$9 EACH! Of course if I flooded the market, their prices would be measured in cents.
Recently I bought some canvases and made a few hundred into displays. Actually they look pretty neat – if you like old presidential campaign buttons.
