… hilly clinton has an advantage in the New York Primary because she was once a senator from this state.  That was over 20-years ago!  Anyone old enough to remember doesn’t give a shit.  Mainly she moved here to use us in her power-mad dash for the Presidency.

Nudity Apps

Thursday, March 31st, 2016

America’s perverse obsession with nudity relentlessly pushes on.  ‘Make-your-own-nudes” internet apps are very popular now. Because our country was founded by Pilgrims, Puritans, and Prigs, we have a long religious history of naked repression and an inbred fascination because it’s forbidden. Even the genitals of statues are covered in some parts of the country!

Religious nuts link nudity and sex probably because of Biblical bullshit. Except for that, why in the world would the common fig leaf become the unwaving flag for modesty?

More sophisticated parts of the world like Europe and parts of Africa laugh at our fear of natural bodies. They shake their heads in disbelief when told America exploded when Janet Jackson’s nipple popped out during a Superbowl performance.  I think it’s funny as hell!

Yesterday’s ‘Tomorrow’

Thursday, March 31st, 2016

Starting kindergarten didn’t make me happy because I knew I could no longer sit on the ‘sofa’ with my Mom every weekday around noon to watch “Search for Tomorrow.” I felt sad about that; I’m sure she did too.

“Search for Tomorrow” was the longest running soap opera on American television. It started airing on Monday, September 3, 1951 and continued until the final episode on Friday, December 26, 1986. That’s over 35-years – 9,130 episodes. And what were the final lines – on the final show – on that day after Christmas, 1986? “Joanne Tate” the show’s star for its entire run, is asked, “What are you searching for, Joanne?” Her reply? “Tomorrow.” (MUSIC UP- FADE TO BLACK ).

It hardly seemed worth the wait. But nothing is only what it seems. I’ll never think about that dumb show without thinking of sitting on our sofa with my Mom over a half-century ago.

No Vital Organs Hit

Dante Autillo shot a nail into his head and barely noticed. The 32-year old woodworker from Oakland Park Illinois, was in his shop when he accidentally scratched his head with his nail gun and fired the 5 and 1/2” projectile into his skull.

Thinking he cut his scalp,  Dante went into the house where his fiancé Gail Glaenzer cleaned the wound with hydrogen peroxide.  He then went about his business even shoveling snow!  The next day, however, the woodworker felt nauseated so Gail insisted he have the wound checked at an emergency room.

After a quick x-ray, doctors were horrified to see the clear picture of a nail over 5-inches long embedded in the man’s brain.  They immediately made arrangements with a larger hospital to perform emergency surgery. Still, Dante never lost consciousness nor felt any unusual pain.  In fact, on the ambulance ride to the second hospital, he posted the picture above to his Facebook account so his friends could see his “brainchild.”

After a two-hour operation, Dante remained in satisfactory condition.  He made a necklace out of his removed nail.

There are some people who say Dante may not be the smartest guy in the world – but when it comes to brains, I say he nailed it.
