Hit The Road, Mac

sad face

In 1985, I bought my first Macintosh Computer with all the frills for $5000.  Mac was magic – I never experienced anything like it. Over the years I’ve had different Macs and they’ve all been exceptional.  There were often problems with compatibility but those were balanced out by a lack of viruses, the longevity of the hardware, and sleek, cool designs.

A year and a half ago, my Mac popped out it’s last icon.  Although I’d upgraded it a few times, it was built in 2003.  11-years in computer age is like 100-years for us but it was reliable all of that time.  I quickly bought a recycled Dell for a hundred bucks and figured it would last the few weeks it would take me to get a new Mac. I hooked it up to my 22″ flat screen monitor and hoped for the best.

mac vs pc

I was amazed!  The PC world of today looks like the Mac world of old – at about a quarter of the price! Everything I need to run this blog is here and it’s just as fast.  Better, it’s on-line tutorials quickly brought me up to speed and provided many more internet options. Today this $100 Dell is still reliably zipping along and showing me new things.

Will I ever buy another new Mac?  Sure!  When I’ve got the money to drive to the Apple store in my brand new Ferrari.
