Have A Blessed Day? Nah, I Have Other Plans

Saturday, July 25th, 2015

A former bank teller claims she was fired from her job for telling a customer to “Have a blessed day.”

“I say ‘have a blessed day’ all of the time,” says Polly Neace. “I don’t think there’s any better kind of day you can have than a blessed day.”

Neace filed a lawsuit against U.S. Bank claiming she was discriminated against for her religious beliefs.

US Bank stated several customers complained about the phrase and repeatedly warned her against using it or any other religious phrases over a number of years. Neace continued to use the phrase, was fired, and sued.

Of course paranoid Christians are loudly whining about America’s “continued attacks on Christianity.”  They insist this country is a CHRISTIAN country, by Jesus! and no disrespect is allowed.  In reality, America is a land of religious freedom – it’s in our Constitution – and that has been upheld by numerous courts up to the Supreme Court for hundreds of years.

I wonder how these good Christians would react if a Jewish teller wished them “Shalom” (peace) after every transaction?  Hey – sounds good to me!  GREAT IDEA! now until forever, when anyone says to me, “Have a blessed day”  I’m going to say “Shalom!” I suggest you do too.

Another Base Jumper Splat

Saturday, July 25th, 2015

For my 25th birthday, I parachuted from a perfectly good plane. I had done the research and found that the thrill from a static line jump (not a free fall jump) far outweighed the danger. Base jumpers can’t or won’t take those precautions because the thrill is so outrageously great.

I believe base jumpers have every right to dive for those thrills – and I have every right not to care if they paint the rocks below.  If they don’t care that much about their lives, why should I? (This also goes for Nick Wallenda and others who tease death for money.)
