The Next Terror Attack: Biological

Sunday, August 10th, 2014

When people in this country think of terrorism, they think of 911 and the World Trade Center.  What they don’t consider is a far more likely scenario: attacks of viruses, bacteria, or toxins.  Bioterrorism:

One strategy (out of thousands) would be easy to implement.  Take a hundred evil, young men and infect them with ebola or similar deadly viruses before sending them back to America. Many have American passports, some are university students, and most can enter our country easily.  Next  turn them loose in singles bars across America.  The results would be horrific!

For over 13-years I have protested against the insane wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and many other countries of the Mideast.  I have always advocated taking the $3-TRILLION dollars we wasted over there (we’re seeing the results today) and spending it on the defense of the United States.  We have not properly protected against terrorism our own ports, energy supplies, postal services or food chains, and our borders are a sad joke.

Why haven’t we even considered this common sense approach?  Because there is no big money in it for the military-industrial-banking complex.  High tech wars are much more profitable and patriotic.

Gates In The Toilet – No Shit!

Sunday, August 10th, 2014

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is a huge, charitable organization which donates money to numerous causes and, sometimes, to alternative solutions. Recently it took on the challenge of re-inventing sanitation facilities for a modern world.

Today over 1/3 of the earth’s 6-billion people use primitive, unsanitary dumping sites for their personal daily waste.  Often they merely go to the “bathroom” in holes dug in the earth or in local, bodies of water.  These conditions result in disease and often in death.  About 1.5 million children die each year from diarrheal disease alone.

Although it’s far from a glamorous charity,  Gates sponsored a competition for university scientists to come up with a future, earth-friendly sanitation system. The requirements:  “it must operate without running water, electricity or a septic system, not discharge pollutants, preferably capture energy or other resources, and operate at a cost of 5 cents a day.”

The results were amazing. First place winner Caltech used chemistry and engineering to completely transform the waste.  The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine put black soldier fly larvae inside latrines to process waste into animal feed at a cost of penny a day,  The winning projects will be funded into the prototype stage.

In terms of people who actually do good for the world, Bill and Melinda Gates must surely rank in #1 and #2.
