Does This Picture Make You Nervous?

Thursday, March 13th, 2014

It makes me a little nervous and I’ve been around gay people all of my adult life.  One of my best friends from high school was gay. But it’s still tough to change a reaction with which we’ve been brought up.  Are you homophobic? Here’s a short test from PBS’s Frontline which may provide some self-enlightenment.

One of the first “sexploitation” films produced in 1965 by Doris Wishman.  There is no truth to the rumor it was dedicated to the Mercy Catholic High School Girls graduating class of 1964.

The Moon And Michaels-Stern

Since I have many new readers, I’d like to show them a few photos I’ve taken from my terrace. This one was taken on October 19th of last year.  I was flattered when someone asked if he could use it for his desktop picture.  Of course!

People want to know about the Michaels-Stern and Co. sign.  In 1893, a seven-story brick building was erected mainly as a manufacturing company of men’s tailored suits and apparel for Michaels-Stern.  Rochester, NY was the base of many clothing companies in the early 1900’s including  Superba Cravats and Hickey Freeman. H-F is the only one which has survived and is now owned by Hartmax of Chicago.

In the late ’70’s and ’80’s, the building was sold and refurbished into high-end loft apartments which remain the main tenants today.
