COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Saying it needed to prevent inbreeding, the Copenhagen Zoo killed a 2-year-old giraffe, Marius, and fed its remains to lions as visitors watched, ignoring a petition signed by thousands and offers from other zoos and a private individual to save the animal.  Visitors, including children, were invited to watch while the giraffe was dissected.

A Boy Named ‘Scrotum’

Saturday, February 15th, 2014

(Reuters) – What’s in a name? In northwestern Mexico, officials say potentially a lifetime of bullying, so parents in the state of Sonora can no longer opt to name their children Scrotum, Terminator, USNAVY or Facebook.

The 61 banned names include technology-inspired monikers like Twitter and Yahoo, fictional characters Harry Potter, James Bond and Rambo and surgical terms like Circumcision.

Children will also be spared being dubbed Virgin, Hitler, Email, Burger King, Christmas Day, Robocop and Rolling Stone.

“It’s about protecting children,” said Cristina Ramirez, the director of Sonora’s Civil Registry. “We want to make sure children’s names don’t get them bullied in school.”

Yah, well in America we’re a bit looser with our names.  Parents with a strange sense of humor have added some odd first names to their family name making their kids rolling laugh riots from the first day of school.  If you’d like a partial list, click here. Let’s start with Al Kickurass.
