The Most Hated Woman in America.

On July 15, 2008, 2-year old Caylee Anderson was reported missing to 9-1-1 by her Grandmother who had not seen her for 31 days. Casey Anderson, the girl’s mother,  gave different explanations as to Caylee’s whereabouts before finally admitting she had not seen her for weeks.

In October of 2008, Casey was charged with first degree murder and pleaded not guilty. Three years later a jury found her not guilty of murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child, but guilty of four misdemeanor counts of lying to police. With credit for time served, she was released on July 17, 2011.

An outraged nation was incredulous!  Most people forgot that the state has to prove – BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT – the guilt of the accused.  This is a basic right of Americans and a very good thing.  Although a few “guilty” people slip through the cracks, the last thing we want is a justice system that yanks people into custody and then decides their fate based on the emotions of a mob.  We also know that “not guilty” does not mean “innocent.”
