Not my “Nonna” but close.

I met an attractive, professional woman today who was in her mid-fifties and she’s a GRANDMOTHER. Yikes! When I was growing up, Grandmas looked much more like the woman above – long dress, apron, gray hair in a bun, and always in the kitchen.

In fact, I must have been 10- or 12- when I realized not all old people spoke with an accent with a little English sprinkled in. I only knew elderly Italian relatives and their friends. When I met my friend’s grandfather and he introduced himself in understandable English, I was shocked.

Until then, I just assumed all people started speaking with an accent once they hit a certain age.

President Peace Prize . . .

Friday, July 6th, 2012

. . . is thought by many – including me – to be one of the most pro-war presidents in US history. This, after he came across as the anti-war candidate in the 2008 election campaign.  Obviously the man will say anything to be reelected.  Some things he can’t ignore:

• he’s continued or gotten us into more military conflicts than any other Commander in Chief.

• he’s spent more on the US military than any previous president.

• if he serves four more years, he will have spent over $8 trillion on defense, including the hidden costs of the war economy.

This schnook has melted his Noble Peace Prize into drones.
