Snap . . . And It’s Gone

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

There’s not a person reading this blog who hasn’t had his picture taken with Kodak film. I’m confident in saying that even if you live in China, Africa, Venezuela, or any other place in the world.

It was a sad day today in Rochester, New York.  Eastman Kodak Company announced it was not making cameras anymore.  This was not really a surprise since the company went into bankruptcy a few weeks ago – but it was still very sad.

In 1880, George Eastman formed the company that took photography around the world.  Mr. Eastman did not invent photography, he just put it in a form that the average person could use to record “the times of our lives.”

Kodak was my best client for writing speeches and teaching their management people how to deliver them for 30-years.  I’m proud I was a very, very tiny part of its history.

Ah… Ah… Ah… AYE!

One answer to dull, legislative sessions in India seems to be video porn. At least three South Indian representatives were forced to resign after being caught in the assembly watching a cell phone with an adult movie playing. They sparked a local photographer’s attention when he saw them passing the phone back and forth.  Citizens all over the “world’s largest democracy” were outraged.

One said he was not looking at porn but “watching video of a women being raped by several men in an effort to prepare for a discussion on the dangers of rave dance parties.” Right.

India, at least in part, based its representative assembly on the US Congress. So far they’ve got the “sex, lies, and videotape” part down just fine.  They’re still working on ‘deadlock.’

I wonder if these guys have drunk Calpi – an Indian soft drink made from cow urine?
