I Am Against Making Pot Legal

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

The decriminalization of marijuana would drive the price up, bring the quality down, and I could only get it at approved retailers, during regular business hours.  And the “thrill” of doing something authorities told me not to do would be gone.

A recent report showed that unless a person is dressed like a policeman,  virtually anyone in America can buy pot easily today.  What’s the problem? If you ask a high school kid if it’s easier to buy weed or liquor – he’ll laugh at you.  When was the last time you heard of anyone getting busted for a small amount of smoke?

The government estimates over 80-million Americans over the age of 12 have smoked pot in the last year.  That’s about a quarter of the country.  How many jails do we have?

So let’s stop this nonsense about enforcing archaic drug laws.  Besides, I have a lot of company who want to keep drugs illegal:  the DEA, Border Patrol, anti-drug counselors, the liquor and beer industry, correctional officers, rehab centers, hydroponic hardware manufacturers, Grow-Light companies, pot-sniffing dogs, politicians, drug lords, pee testers, churches, the extreme right and just about every other moralistic prig who thinks he knows how to live my life better than I do.
