Protect the Bastards’ Freedom

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

There’s an obscure Christian sect from Kansas that hates homosexuality so much, they protest at soldiers’ funerals.  They feel America is too tolerant of gays – especially the military with its “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.  Recently the group protested with signs that said: “Thank God for Dead Soldiers” and “Fag Troops” as they waved Bibles.

The Supreme Court is now reviewing their Freedom of Speech rights against the obvious anguish it causes the fallen troops’ families.  As much as I hate to say it, I think the rights of these dorks should be upheld.

America is a land blessed with freedom. As long as you don’t make a statement which can produce immediate harm (shouting “Fire!” in a crowded theater), I believe you should be free to say anything – even if the rest of us find it repulsive – ESPECIALLY if the rest of us find it repulsive.  To me, that’s what America is all about.

And I really hope there is a Jesus in Heaven who looks down at these cretins using His name – and pisses all over them.
