Jimmy Hoffa – Please Call Your Office

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

After football last week, a guy told me about old Giants Stadium and how Jimmy Hoffa was buried in the far end zone.  I started to laugh.  He cut me off with a serious glare and said, “That’s true, Franco!”  He said it with such conviction, I didn’t want to argue with him.  The guy also supports the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan – so the idiot will believe just about anything.

Jimmy Riddle (his real middle name) Hoffa was murdered on July 30, 1975 by one of his best friends on orders from the mob.  It’s all pretty well documented in the book  “I Heard You Paint Houses” from a taped narration by 83-year-old Frank Sheeran – his killer – with a respected journalist.

It was a pretty routine mob hit.  Jimmy was lured into a car because he trusted his longtime friend Sheeran who was sitting in the front seat.  Hoffa thought he was going to meet top mob bosses to discuss his reentry into the Teamsters.

As soon as he entered the house, he was shot twice in the back of the head by his “good friend.”  His body fell to the pre-planted rug which was then rolled up and put back into the car.  Next, the “cleanup” men drove the car a few miles to a mob-owned auto salvage company and Hoffa and the car were immediately crunched into a compact steel cube.  These cubes – along with thousands of others – are melted and then recycled into useable sheet metal.  The whole thing probably took less than an hour.

I would guess one of the last choices the killers considered was driving about 500-miles to New York with the world’s most famous murder victim in their trunk.
