Cherish Your Moments of Laughter

Ross Perot has a great laugh!

The murderous, unwinnable wars grind on, our gulf coast is a disaster of unspeakable horror, floods in the Midwest have killed over two dozen people, nations in the Mideast are boiling over, John Lennon is dead and I’m not feeling so well myself.

When things are this dark, I try to think of some of the times in my life that got me crazy laughing, appropriately or not – and there are many.

Thirty years ago, I met a lady who was magazine-beautiful.  I regressed to my teen years as soon as I saw her.  I thought she was “special” – so OK, she turned me into an idiot.  After some dates, we passionately went to bed together.  And at the very moment they quaintly used  to say “the two became one”, she softly whispered in my ear,

“Darling, remember I’m not on birth control.”

“S,” I whispered back, “remember I told you last week I had a vasectomy?”  She looked at me quizzically.

“Oh…’re the one?”

I tried not to laugh but couldn’t quite hold it in.  Things went quickly “south” after that.  You know how sometimes you try to hold laughter back but it just slips out?  That was me.

I believe laughter is better than sex most times.  Which was good for me that night because I enjoyed much of the first and – none of the second.
